Our services

Nikau Consultancy provides specialized environmental services designed to cultivate resilient landscapes. By merging traditional wisdom with scientific expertise, I offer practical solutions tailored to your land's unique needs.

Our Services: Pricing Overview

Planting Plans

Every successful planting project begins with understanding the land.

The first step is an Initial On-Site Consultation ($200), where I assess your property, discuss your vision, identify opportunities and constraints, and gain an understanding of your long-term goals.

Following the consultation, I will recommend the most suitable Planting Plan Package based on the size, complexity, and scope of your project. Each plan is individually tailored to your site and can include native planting design, shelterbelts, privacy screening, riparian planting, erosion control, biodiversity enhancement, and ecological restoration.

Scope of Services & Architectural Integration

Ecological Design:

My services focus exclusively on plant selection, eco-sourced species placement, and spatial planting layouts to act as a practical guide for your contractor or landscaper.

Architectural Collaboration:

While I do not draft structural landscape architecture blueprints or engineering plans, I am fully equipped to work directly off existing architectural plans to design and overlay the perfect botanical framework for your site.

Travel outside the Kerikeri area will incur an additional travel fee, which will be discussed prior to booking.

What Our Clients Say

Louisa, Haruru

"Collaborating with Kayla on our new garden design was a smooth experience. She provided a customized, low-maintenance native planting plan that not only addressed our practical requirements but also enriched the habitat value of the space".

Reducing plant mortality

Expensive native plants often fail in Northland's harsh conditions. We select species specifically suited to your site's soil, climate, and coastal influences.

Navigating eco-sourcing for genuine local impact

Ensuring your plants are genuinely eco-sourced from your local ecological district can be tricky. We guide you through verifying their origin for true environmental benefit.

Tackling Environmental Challenges in Northland

Many homeowners, lifestyle block owners, and community groups in Northland face unique environmental challenges. Nikau Consultancy helps you overcome these with expert guidance and tailored plans.

Navigating the Overwhelm of "Where Do I Begin?"

Many landowners feel overwhelmed by a blank canvas, leading to wasted effort and money. We provide clear, structured guidance to start your project right.

Our unique approach: grown in the bush, refined by science

At Nikau Consultancy, our methods are shaped by a rare blend of inherited wisdom and academic rigour. Raised in the bush along the Whanganui River, I bring a generational, instinctual understanding of the New Zealand wilderness. This traditional knowledge, combined with the precise, analytical mind of an environmental scientist, allows us to deliver strategies that are not only ecologically brilliant but also entirely practical for those who work the land.
